Alexander studied as a choral scholar in the choir of New College, Oxford, and in May 2011 completed the Intensive Opera course at the Advanced Performers Studio. His recent operatic work includes Wilkins in Windsor & Eton Opera’s Merry England, Dandini in 2x2 Opera’s production of Rossini’s La Cenerentola, Publio in Opus Opera’s La Clemenza di Tito, Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro, Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte, Counsel in Gilbert & Sullivan’s Trial by Jury, Simone in Gianni Schicchi, and Colline in La Boheme (in productions by Hand Made Opera), and the Traveller in Britten’s Curlew River.
Alexander is also in demand as a choral singer, frequently performing with the Tallis Scholars, the Eric Whitacre singers, the Cambridge Singers, and Consortium. His solo performance on the latter’s CD of Reger’s choral works on Hyperion Records (Classic FM Magazine’s CD of the month), was praised by Gramophone Magazine for its “delectable poise”. He is a regular soloist in oratorio, working for choral societies around the UK, including repeat bookings for Winchester Festival Chorus, Woodstock Musical Society Richmondshire Choral Society, Darlington Choral Society, and Felsted Choral Society, and has received favourable reviews for his “particularly fine voice”, his “fluent elegance”, and his “wonderfully sonorous sound”.
