Welsh pianist Conal Bembridge - Sayers is currently the junior piano accompaniment fellow at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, staff accompanist at the RWCMD Junior Conservatoire, official accompanist for the Gregynog Young Musician Competition, junior staff accompanist at the Oxenfoord International Summer School, and official accompanist for the Urdd and National Eisteddfodau. Recent recital performances have taken Conal to venues and festivals such as; the Leeds Lieder Festival, Edinburgh Festival, Ludlow English Song Festival, St Martin’s in the Field, Dora Stoutzker Concert Hall, Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival and St David’s Hall, as well as concerts for HRH Prince of Wales, Dame Shirley Bassey, and performances of The Bear at William Walton’s estate in Italy, La Mortella. As a soloist Conal’s concerto appearances include Richard Rodney Bennett’s Party Piece, Shostakovich’s 1st Piano Concerto, Edward Gregson’s Concertante for Piano and Brass Band, in addition to a number of solo recitals. Aside from his work as a collaborative pianist, Conal is also an experienced répétiteur and conductor, with engagements at Welsh National Opera and smaller companies around the UK. Conal delivers outreach on behalf of WNO’s Youth and Communities Department and Music in Hospitals and Care, as well as various other organisations, and has worked as a chorus master, répétiteur and vocal coach on recent WNO Youth Opera Productions.
