Eleanor Ross, soprano, trained as an oboist at the Royal College of Music and the Norwegian Academy of Music, and then as a singer with renowned tenor Dennis O’Neill at the Wales International Academy of Voice. She now studies with Ryland Davies, and was an OperaWorks artist at English National Opera 2013-14. An experienced choral musician, Eleanor sings with the BBC Singers and the Academy of Ancient Music. Notable opera performances have included Konigin Der Nacht (Die Zauberflote, Mozart) at the Castelo de Sao Jorge in Lisbon, Melia (Apollo et Hyacinthus, Mozart) amongst the ruins of Shakespeare’s first theatre The Rose, Miss Wordsworth (Albert Herring, Britten) under Steuart Bedford, and Philadell/Venus (King Arthur, Purcell) at the Cheltenham International Festival. Engagements in 2014 included Belinda (Dido & Aeneas, Purcell) for OperaUpClose, Juliette (Romeo et Juliette, Gounod) with Riverside Opera, Lili (Carina, Ansdell-Evans) in workshop with English National Opera, and Cover Dalinda (Ariodante, Handel) for the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. Earlier this year she reached the semi-finals at both the Concours International de Chant de Marmande, and the 50th International Vocal Competition ‘s-Hertogenbosch. In 2015 Eleanor will record Handel’s ‘Cantata La Lucrezia HWV 145? with The Amade Players for Resonus Classics, and will perform the role of Konstanze (Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail, Mozart) on tour with Pop Up Opera.
