Peter Kirk

British tenor Peter Kirk graduated with the Eric Shilling Prize for Opera from the Royal College of Music International Opera School in London (2014), prior to this he completed a BScEcon in International Politics before studying Italian at L’Istituto Italiano, Firenze. Most recently he has completed the Opéra national du Rhin's Young Artists Programme in Strasbourg where his roles included Paolino ( Il m atrimonio segreto), the Prince ( La bella d ormente nel bosco), Second Peasant ( Ar iane et Barbe-bleu) and Chaplitsky ( The Queen of Spades). Engagements elsewhere during this period included Lurcanio and Oduardo (covers) for the Festival d’Aix en Provence, Lucano ( L’incor onazione di Poppea) for English Touring Opera, Charlie (Mahagonny Songspiel) with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Congress ional Page ( Two Boys) for English National Opera. Kirk made his Royal Opera (Covent Garden) debut in the 2015/16 Season to critical acclaim as Chulak (The Firew ork-Maker’s Daughte r dir. John Fulljames). Other engagements in 2015/2016 included Judas Maccabeus with the Silesian Philharminic Orchestra in Katowice (cond. Paul Esswood); Dichterliebe at the Wiltshire Music Centre; Antonio (Das Liebersverbot by Wagner) at L'Opera national du Rhin and Lysander A Midsummer Night’s Dream (cond. Yutaka Sado) at the Hyogo Arts Centre, Japan. Kirk’s concert engagements have seen him perform across Europe: his performances of Handel’s Messiah with the Orchestra of St John’s Smith Square and the Polish National Chamber Choir in Gdansk garnered much critical praise. Other notable performances include Ro ssini’s Petite Messe Solennelle for the Dortmund Musikverein; Handel’s Judas Maccabeus with the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra in Katowice; Haydn’s The Seasons and Bach’s Magnificat, both for L’Orchestre Mozart, Toulouse. In the 2016/2017 season Peter will sing the role of Lysander ( A Midsummer Nights Dream) in the Jubilee Hall Aldeburgh, and return to L’Opéra national du Rhin where he will play Pasek in the Cunning Little Vixen and the 3rd Jew in Salomé.
