Born in Donegal, Ireland and graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, London; Timothy Cape is a composer / curator who specialises in creating live art events in unconventional spaces. Through working with his cross-arts collective Bastard Assignments, he has delivered events in such diverse venues as a disused prison, a converted truck theatre and a bombed out chapel as well as cafes and gallerys around London. Passionate about embodied performance, his own work explores text, gesture, and lighting to create musical experiences often devised in response to the spaces in which they are performed.
He also enjoys surfing, hillwalking and ice cream.
"The performance is made very light-hearted by the captions created and operated by Harry Percival and Timothy Cape. You could argue the captions are what keep the opera alive and gives Popup Opera a signature look, giving context, breaking language barriers and making ‘modern’ links, with comments on Nigel Farage and colloquial slang like ‘we fink you iz well fit tho’ to keep the audience’s attention and create some of the best laughs of the evening."
